Troubleshooting
When something doesn't work, try these in order, from the top. Most problems come down to mic permissions, or another app holding the mic.
Mic not working
1. Check the browser permission
Click the lock (or camera/mic) icon at the left of the address bar to see the permissions this site has. Make sure the microphone isn't set to "Block".
Once you choose "Block", the browser stops asking — you have to switch it back to "Allow" manually from here.
2. Check the OS permission
Even with the browser allowed, the OS can still block it.
- Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone
- macOS: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
- Android: Settings → Apps → (your browser) → Permissions
Check that your browser is enabled in the list.
3. Check whether another app is holding the mic
Video-call and recording apps can keep a grip on the mic. Close the ones you're not using, then reload the page.
4. Reload the page
After changing any permission, you need to reload the page.
Camera not showing
The camera shows while you hold the button and stops when you let go. On your first press after opening the page, and if you swipe up while holding, it locks on and keeps showing until you press again — that is what "it stayed on after I let go" is. If nothing shows while you hold it, walk through the microphone steps above, reading "camera" for "mic".
Others can't hear me
- Make sure your mic isn't muted.
- If your device has more than one mic (built-in plus an external one), the browser may have picked the wrong input. Switch the input device in the browser settings.
I can't hear others
- Check the device volume, and that the browser tab isn't muted.
- Right after plugging in or unplugging earphones, the output may not have switched over. Reload the page once.
Can't join a table / getting disconnected
- Unstable connections (on a train, on crowded Wi-Fi) drop easily. If you can, try a steadier network.
- Update your browser to the latest version.
- Some corporate and school networks block the connections voice chat needs. If so, try a different network.
Still stuck?
Contact us(ja) — and if you can, include the following. It makes the cause much easier to pin down.
- Your device (e.g. iPhone 13 / a Windows 11 laptop)
- Browser and version (e.g. Safari, Chrome 120)
- What you did, and what happened (e.g. the screen freezes when I try to join a table)
