Lover
An overlay add-on that binds two players into a fated pair. They know each other, share a lovers-only chat at night, and if both are alive when the game ends, the Lovers alone win — whatever their original factions were. (Classic werewolf deals this pair through a Cupid player; MAFIA has no Cupid — the pair is assigned as an add-on.)

Living on top of your faction
The Lovers ride on top of base roles — a Villager and a Werewolf can be lovers.
- While both live, your result is counted as the lovers' faction. Even the Princess's village-wide death blast spares an active lovers pair.
- Your visible role and ability stay yours: a Seer in love keeps divining, a Werewolf in love keeps biting.
- Your original faction's win is no longer your win. Village or wolves may triumph — if the two of you don't reach the end alive, you lose.
When one dies — the "betrayal"
Unlike the Twins, the Lovers don't follow each other into death.
| Lovers | Twins | |
|---|---|---|
| Know their partner? | Yes | Yes |
| When one dies | The other lives on | The other dies too |
| The survivor's faction | Reverts to the base role's faction | — (both are dead) |
The moment your partner falls, you are a Lover no more — your result is counted with your original faction again. Yesterday you played only for the pair's survival; today you play for your own side. That pivot is why the table calls it "the betrayal".
In the standard decks
The Lovers take no deck slot — the pair is layered on top of any lineup via the room setting. One standard preset ships with the option already on. (Depending on the player count and roles, a pair may fail to form — the game then starts without Lovers.)
