Joining Rooms and Spectating
There are two ways into a room — join as a player or spectate. Both start from the room list in the lobby, and sending a friend the room URL invites them directly.
Joining as a player
You take a seat and, once the game starts, play as one of the roles. Games start when every seat is filled, so until then the room is in waiting time (→ Creating a Room and Choosing Player Counts).
The entry fee (MP)
Every game room charges an entry fee in MP (MAFIA Points) — at least 1 MP. It isn't spent on the spot: it is held until the game finishes properly.
| What happened | Your entry fee |
|---|---|
| The Room Master kicked you | Refunded in full |
| You left on your own | No refund |
| The Room Master lowered the fee | The difference comes back automatically |
| The room disbanded unused | Refunded |
"Kicks refund, walking out doesn't" — that's the one rule worth remembering.
Spectating
Pick 'Spectate' and you watch without taking a seat. Spectators can enter rooms mid-game, so you can drop in on a friend's match in progress.
- The spectator fee (at least 1 MP) is charged the moment you enter (no refunds)
- Where audience betting is enabled, you can put MP on which faction wins
You can't leave mid-game
Nobody leaves a game in progress — not by choice, and not by kick. Role relationships (the Lovers, the Thief) and the final results would break if a seat vanished mid-game.
- If your connection drops, you can rejoin. While you're offline, the others see '📵 Voice Lost' on your seat.
- Faking a disconnect to go idle is against the manners (→ Manners and Prohibited Play).
Once the game ends you are free to leave — or stay seated and join the rematch.
Where do I see my MP?
Your MP balance shows on the room screen and in the lobby. For what MP itself is, see What is MP? in the FAQ.
