What the Room Master Can Do

Last updated

Create a room and you become its Room Master (the host). As the table's organizer, you get controls no other player has. This page sorts out what you can do, and when.

The controls at a glance

ActionWhen it's available
Change room settingsWaiting / after a game
Lower the entry feeWaiting / after a game
Kick a playerWaiting / after a game
Shuffle SeatsWaiting / after a game
Transfer RMWaiting / after a game
Force End the gameDuring a game only

The only mid-game control is Force End. Once a game starts, the settings and the members stay fixed to the end — that is MAFIA's base design, because rules or seats changing midway would break the fairness of the match.

Entry and spectator fees

You set the MP entry fee and spectator fee when creating the room (→ Creating a Room and Choosing Player Counts).

  • In every room, the Room Master pays the same entry fee at creation (a held stake that counts as the entry fee for the first game). This stake is not refunded if the room disbands unused.
  • A share of the collected fees goes to the Room Master. Entry fees are distributed when a game finishes properly.
  • From the second game on, the Room Master pays the entry fee like every other player.
  • After creation the entry fee can only be lowered — players who already paid get the difference back automatically.
  • The player's view of payments and refunds is in Joining Rooms and Spectating.

Kick

Troublesome players — or seats left empty by someone who never came back — can be kicked while waiting or after a game. A kicked player's entry fee is refunded in full, so don't hesitate to keep your table healthy.

Kicking is off during a game. For mid-game abuse or sabotage, use Report (→ Using the Room Screen).

Seat shuffles and transfer

  • Shuffle Seats — rearranges the seating. If the speaking order follows seats, this keeps the order from going stale. After a game, it also resets the mood before a rematch.
  • Transfer RM — hands the Room Master role to another player. Need to leave a long session? Transfer instead of disbanding.

Force End

Ends a game in progress — a control only the Room Master has. Use it as the last resort for tables that can't continue, such as connection trouble.

Shared YouTube

While no game is running, the Room Master can paste a YouTube URL into chat, and it plays for everyone on the monitor in the room's 3D space. Good for filling the wait.

  • Only the Room Master can stop playback
  • Everyone else can close the view on their own screen
