Medium
A village role that learns whether the player executed that day really was a werewolf. The result arrives at night, to you alone, on any day an execution happened. Most werewolf games have this role under the same name — the Medium.
At a Glance
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Faction | Village |
| Win condition | Eliminate every werewolf, with no third faction (such as the Fox) left alive |
| Night action | None (the result arrives automatically) |
| Result | Whether the executed player was 'Werewolf' or 'Not' |
| Divination result | 'Not' (not a werewolf) |
Only werewolves come back 'Werewolf'
The Medium's result follows the same reading as divination. ∴ only a Werewolf shows 'Werewolf'.
| Executed role | Medium's result |
|---|---|
| Werewolf | 'Werewolf' |
| Madman | 'Not' (wolf-aligned, but human) |
| Fox | 'Not' (not a werewolf) |
| Any village role | 'Not' |
"No 'Werewolf' result, so the vote was wasted" doesn't follow — the village may have executed the Madman or the Fox, and both of those are real progress.
Days with no result
- A day without an execution produces no result that night.
- If the executed player was you, the result naturally reaches no one.
Working with the Seer
The Seer examines the living; the Medium verifies the dead. When two players both claim Seer (a counterclaim), the Medium — who learns the color of whoever gets voted out — becomes the referee that decides which claimant was real.
In the standard decks
Several of the standard decks include one Medium — typically the mid-size tables and up.
